Even on its weirdest, most ridiculously self-indulgent, most nonsensical, most disparate, less cohesive and less focused album to date, alt-J still sounds vivid, joyful, funny, entertaining and wise. From the high frenzy to the dullest, doomest depression, there's tons to chew on and grasp here. A challenging listen for sure, but one that gives treasures galore to those who wait.
