It's okay to change. At least as long as you continue to be as inspiring on the inside as Ella manages to sound on her second studio album. Her witty inner jokes, outsider perspectives and almost paranoid soliloquies are intact, but the beats need more fuel this time; and they clearly find the way to explode in magic ways. Lorde has always been conceptual and cinematic, but Melodrama might be her chef-d'oeuvre.
