The second album from Montreal-based musician best known for post-rock bands Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Three Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra delivers a wobblily apocalyptic record about the cynicism that reigns in our world as well as the longing for a purer, brighter past. While heavily layered and transcendentally powerful at times, it falls inconsistent and fuzzy to convey the themes it so desperately tries to narrate.
