After an amazing album in 2016, the Québecoise artist Marie Davidson returns with her fourth full-length and feels excessively interpersonal and visceral. Her spoken word has never gotten this incisive, her beats have never sounded this icy and mechanically erratic, and her intentions have never been this intensely perverse (or at least they've never been executed in such theatrically agonic way). Working Class Woman is the realization of an artist that wants to send shivers and make people dance at the same time and, for almost its entirety, manages to do that effortlessly.
