People seldom overcome deeply dark times in such triumphant ways as Kesha does by means of her latest record. The form in which she merges into the sounds, structures, lyrics and her powerfully and surprisingly marvellous voice is breath-taking. She's having a lot of fun while doing music that's, for the first time in her career, truly substantial. She acknowledges her past and present, but is firmly determined to create her own new paradise in the process. This is resilience at its sharpest, and an artist at her fullest artistic control.
