The fourth album from English producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Devonté Hynes as Blood Orange is an immaculate collection of songs, documents, interviews and thoughts that mingle and play with each other to create a truly holistic experience. There are lots of guests, and most of them do great jobs in propelling the beautifully-arranged sound structures and lyrics. And though it's pretty much an ambient, laid-back album, you can feel the odd sense of variety and perfectionism in its own anxiety and ever-growing tension. Negro Swan is an encouraging album that tells and dares you to be different, to be who you really are; and it also looks like the artist is following its advice verbatim.
