The debut full-length album from Sydney-based band Phantastic Ferniture is an exhilarating journey through the minds of the members, who intentionally wanted to play loose, relaxed and imprivosed poppy-rocky jams as a therapeutic relief. The songs are a success after another partly because of that, and also because of how imperfect, vulnerable and crude they all allow themselves to be, untangling instrumentals, vocals and lyrics in admirably simple and unrestrained ways. Both the album and the band (though still in their self-discovery infancy) feel refreshing and slyly confident.
