After an intriguing EP, the New York-based band Okonkolo announces their debut full-length album and mixes santería music with chamber pop touches and a strangely moving take on psychedelic folk music. The chants feel vibrant, moveable and volatile in their nature, as if they wouldn't be able to stand still. Cantos aims at transcendence and spiritual liberation and, for its short time, it succeeds most of the time.
