The second full-length album from French-Vietnamese artist Mai Lan marks a departure from her singer-songwriter, indie pop repertoire favouring dance-floor oriented electropop songs. The tracks feel light and ephemeral but thick in their execution and distribution, and the somewhat lazy lyrics and repeated choruses are elevated thanks to the fantastic job that producer Nick Sylvester does on most of them. It's a great surprise to see an artist this capable of sounding at times robotic and frenetic and at others really emotional and invigorating while still maintaining the groove and the propulsive energy to make you sweat and cry.
