The debut full-length album by Argentinian band Los Andes is mistakably called power pop, since all the songs feel breezy, almost acoustic in their intimacy and self-control. Some tracks are gems, displaying visceral, iridiscent lyrics that express youth, reflection and hope; some other feel too corny to be taken seriously. A bit of a hit-and-miss, Obras Cumbres still let us think that the band has yet to overcome their fluffiness and really take off.
