LUMP - LUMP

Score: 8.3

The debut studio album from the collaborative group between acclaimed singer Laura Marling and distinguished producer Mike Lindsay is a truly unique universe of folktronica, alien chants and weirdly tender sounds that aim at telling and understanding the basis of the modern self and the purpose(s) of life (if there's/are any at all). Laura's voice shines from beginning to end thanks to the wonderful production from Lindsay, who allows himself to explore his peculiar synthesizers without shadowing the singer's immense vocal abilities. They, in the process, conform a symbiotic duo and, like they clarify, as Lump is a product that will continue morphing itself, it's just a pleasure to see it/them unfold.
